I’m back to school…starting from scratch. It feels good to be back, but I am exhausted. When I left teaching a few years ago…I left everything in my room for the incoming teacher. So going back I am empty handed… 🙂
The classroom I am in now was the science lab last year. They added a 7th 3rd grade unit (that’s me) so I wasn’t able to get left overs from last years teacher. I’ve realized it is a curse and a blessing. The curse is that if I need it I have to find it or buy it, it’s not already hidden in a drawer somewhere… but the blessing is that I am organized…if I don’t need it, it isn’t already there cluttering my classroom. I will only have on hand what I am actually using. (You can see that the cabinets in the room were completely empty and open…ready to be packed with all the things I no longer had.)
Here are pictures from my first day at Pre-School.
I was supplied with 25 desks, chairs, a teacher desk, kidney shaped table, 4 student computers, doc cam, 1 teacher computer, a teeny-tiny easel, 3 bookshelves, a large carpet (rolled in the corner), 2 hexagon tables…oh I can’t forget the large trash can and globe. I think I remember this globe from when I was in 3rd grade.
The previous teacher can and took the map and remaining posters you can see in some of the pictures but did leave the clothesline hanging. I have two of them that I left up…and will probably add more.
The pictures are not that great, because I took them with my phone…but I think you can get the general idea. 🙂
School started last week but I have been so busy in my room I haven’t been able to update my blog. I do have some exciting changes and projects I have been working on and can’t wait to keep you updated.
Have any great ideas for me? I’m always looking for something great to keep my kids inspired.
