I’ve made lots of baby food. Since Hucklebaby started eating purees a majority of his food I have cut, steamed, mashed, pureed, frozen, thawed and served myself. I was lucky enough to be able to do that. Even thought that is easy to make for him at home, going out with it isn’t as easy as it sounds.
Now as he is older and we are out more than at home I’m looking for convenience. I still don’t like a lot of the store bought baby food. There are so many preservatives in there that just aren’t needed. He has the rest of his life to eat preservatives in tasty junk food. I don’t want to start him out while he is eating clean and healthy. I’ve found that I love Ella’s Kitchen (I can only find at Target) and Plum Organics (pretty much in most grocery stores). These brands have the most food that is simply pureed whole vegetables.
I did find a new brand I was happy with too. Peter Rabbit Organics. (Even though I avoid Walmart at all costs, on one of my quick runs in I saw this and picked them up, they might be other places but this is the only place I have seen it. ) I think they were around $1.45 for a 4.4oz pack.
These are the 3 I grabbed to try out. I like to make sure there are veggies in his meals and not just fruits. As you can see the ingredients are real and not scary.
These are nice to throw in my purse to let him enjoy when we aren’t at home. That way I can make sure he is still eating food that is good for him even when I’m not able to make it. I think these are a good transition into preschool too.
